Day of Surgery.

It is important for your child to adhere to the following instructions regarding food and liquid intake:

PRE-OPERATIVE GUIDELINES
The following are the guidelines for the morning of your child’s surgery:
NO FOOD, MILK, or MILK PRODUCTS after midnight the night prior to surgery.
Clear liquids up until 3 hours prior to your scheduled surgery time.

Clear liquids consist of only: Water, Apple Juice, Gatorade, Pedialyte, Jello (plain – no fruit pieces or whipped cream), Ice Pops, Popsicles (no real fruit pops or fudgesicles), Italian Ice, Icee or Slurpee (no smoothies),
NO ICE CREAM

Dr. Arasu’s patients:
Please follow his office directions regarding eating and drinking the day and night before surgery
Nursing infants should feed up until 6 hours prior to surgery, and continue with clear liquids up until 3 hours prior to the estimated surgery time.

A nurse from Pediatric Surgery Centers will notify you the day prior to your child’s surgery with the scheduled check in time and specific instructions.
